AI Automation: A Realistic Plan to Save 10 Hours Every Week

Ten hours a week is a realistic AI automation target for most knowledge workers — but not from one silver bullet. It comes from stacking five to eight small automations that each save 60-90 minutes.
Week one: track where time actually goes (the results always surprise). Week two: automate communication — email triage and drafts, meeting notes with action items, status updates compiled automatically. Week three: automate content and data — report generation, spreadsheet cleanups, research briefs. Week four: connect systems with n8n or Make so data stops being copy-pasted between tools.
Two rules keep gains real. Measure honestly — time saved minus time spent maintaining automations. And bank the hours deliberately: reclaimed time evaporates into Slack unless you assign it to deep work. Our n8n template library covers most of week four out of the box.
